My Weirdest Crush
Jul 12th, 2012 by Autumn Sunshine
This one will maybe surprise anyone who knows me, or thinks they do
The Crush
OK, my crush started in 1991 when I noticed him on TV. He was the catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies !! Darren “Dutch” Daulton. My ex husband was watching a baseball game and I walked by the TV and said, OMG!!!! Who is that? I discovered and proceeded to check out everything I could find about Dutch.
I admit I went a bit crazy getting T shirts, # 10 ~ Go Dutch!!!! Rah, Rah, Rah
It started and I was hooked, I got lots of nice things. A wall plaque with his picture and all. A key chain baseball bat, my friend engraved it for me with his name and number,
loads of baseball cards featuring Darren.
Watching the Game
I started sitting and watching the games, and multi-tasking, only paying attention when Dutch was catching and batting
This annoyed the ex husband. I then started cheering too loudly and taught my daughter to cheer, too.
I followed his career and he had so many knee surgeries
he was traded to the Marlins in 1997. They won the World Series that year!!!!
Retirement
He retired in 1997, his knees were a mess. Ahhhh, but he still was soooooo cute. I think he looks good at 50, with a little less hair. His radio show is “Talkin’ Baseball with Dutch”, during the baseball season
Daulton has authored a book on occultism and numerology, titled “If They Only Knew,” published in 2007. In the book he discusses numerous aspects of occultism, referencing experts in the field, and his personal experiences.
OK, this book had some people talking about him and saying he was crazy.
For shame on them. He makes some very valid points. Those closed minded people again. In an interview I watched, he said this, “it’s based on unconditional love” and what is so bad about that? Also, he has a big heart!!
I got a Crush on Dutch
I know, I know you may be saying I’m hooked on Dutch.
I followed his career and his life for over 20 years. I still have all my “stuff”
I really do not like sports all that much. I admit it, but I watched those games and cheered and I’d do it again. He’s not perfect, but then who is? He’s not a traditional dude I’d have taken notice of. I am too much into music. But hey, it’s fine, I expanded my horizons. : )

He is very attractive, Autumn.
I can just imagine how your ex-husband got so upset with you paying so much attention to him.
Have a great weekend! xoxo
Hi Deb
you made me really smile on that one. The ex of mine was so wacky! I swear getting upset over a “star” of sports. You have a great weekend, too. love and hugs xoxo
I forgot to tell you, who the ex’s crush was
Jennifer Beals in Flashdance, he thought I looked like her back then. I didn’t!!! But he was, as I said very wacky. I had to share that bit of my past
